Most likely from the Bwa or Nuna people of Burkina Faso, West Africa.

Made from a single piece of wood and characterised by their striking geometric patterns painted red,black and white.

They are worn by performers in ceremonies and rituals particulary during dry season to represent ancestral spirits to promote agricultural success.
